To Catch the Waking of the Sun

It has been long since I have gotten up early enough to watch the sunrise. Admittedly, though, this is because it has been long since I have slept early enough for such a feat to be reasonable. In light of this, I have decided to, starting today, implement a 10 pm bedtime. After all, the few moments in which the sun paints the sky are my favorite moments of each day. I want to wake up, after a good night’s rest, to watch the night give birth to day, to run with the early birds’ songs, to eat pastries and drink tea on the patio as the beautiful desert days begin. And when my family takes our week-long trip to Hawai’i this summer, I want to be ready to wake up early, drive up to the Haleakala National Park, and watch the sun play peek-a-boo from the far-off horizon, rising from a bed of pink-tinted clouds.
