Organizing Photographs

Five and a half rolls of film, one photoshoot with my sister, and many landscapes later, I decided that if I was going to continue with photography in this manner, I should have some sort of organization system. Before, I just neatly stacked the chronologically ordered, Costco-developed rolls in an empty shoe box, each labeled Film 1, Film 2, etc. But if I wanted to look at a photo, or examine its aperture/shutter speed settings, I had to flip through each packet of 4×6’s to find the one I wanted, and after a dozen times, my photos would soon be nothing more than a memory hidden behind layers of fingerprints.

And so, when my mom came home with a boxed set of new photo albums, I jumped right on it, gently feeding photos into the slip covers.

A couple hours later, every film shot I had taken with the Minolta was snug, labeled, and displayed within the dark gray covers of Album 1: A Foray into Film.
