Lost in Translation Revisited

The concept of languages has always interested me. And it turned out that there was an email sitting in my inbox about a rather peculiar sign in Wales. For the English speaker, all seems well. But for the Welsh, the sign reads not “No entry for heavy goods vehicles. Residential site only,” but “I am not in the office at the moment. Please send any work to be translated.” Maybe they translators should start translating their emails. Or maybe the government should only hire bilinguals. Or maybe they should just have the sense to do an online search before putting it on an official road sign.
